Manchester City are close to beating Real Madrid to the signing of Napoli striker Edinson Cavani by offering him a deal worth £13.3m a year. City are also confident of signing the  Uruguayan for less than his £52m release clause.Full story: Daily Mail


Barcelona's Mexico international midfielder Jonathan dos Santo could be on his way to Liverpool after admitting he wants to leave the Nou Camp this summer.
AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has ruled out attempting to re-sign Paris St-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer. The Sweden forward left the San Siro for Paris in 2012.

Chelsea are close to agreeing a deal for Bayer Leverkusen striker Andre Schurrle. The German club's representatives are in London to finalise the transfer.
Former Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou is a target for newly promoted Cardiff City as the Ivory Coast international, currently at Lille, wants a return to the Premier League.
Manchester City are considering a move for Manchester United midfielder Ravel Morrison, who is currently on loan at Birmingham City from West Ham.
Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke is ready to turn down a summer move to either Arsenal or Tottenham. The Belgian forward has scored 19 goals for Villa since joining for £8m from Genk last year.
Paraguayan striker Roque Santa Cruz is set to leave Manchester City and join Brazilian side Botafogo on a free transfer. Santa Cruz signed for City for £17.5m in July 2009 but has only scored three Premier League goals since then and spent the majority of the last three seasons on loan at various clubs.

Former Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou says he would be interested in a summer move to Arsenal from his current side Lille.

Alex Song is keen on a return to Arsenal after growing frustrated with his role at Barcelona, according to cousin and former Liverpool defender Rigobert. The player moved to the Spanish club from the Gunners last season for £17m but has made just 15 appearances.

Tottenham manager Andre-Villas Boas is interested in signing winger Christian Atsu to whom he gave a debut during his time in charge of the Portuguese club. Everton and Sunderland are also keen on the winger, who will have just a year left on his contract by the summer and has an £8m buy-out clause.
Paris Saint-Germain director of football Leonardo insists the club have not made an offer for Manchester United's Wayne Rooney but admitted that Manchester City's Samir Nasri and Yohan Cabaye of Newcastle are on their radar.
Newcastle could be interested in re-signing Andy Carroll when his loan deal at West Ham expires at the end of the season. However, the Magpies are only willing to pay £10m for the player - £25m less than Liverpool bought him for two years ago.
Chelsea are close to sealing a £20m deal for Brazilian defender Dede who the Blues believe can be John Terry's long-term successor. The Vasco Da Gama centre-back has also been watched by Liverpool and Manchester United.
Manchester United midfielder Anderson could return to former club Porto in the summer, with Sir Alex Ferguson attempting to bring James Rodriguez the other way.

Cardiff promoted


Cardiff City secured promotion to the Premier League with a goalless draw at home to Charlton Athletic.
A point was enough for Cardiff to end a 51-year absence from the top flight and it was earned with few alarms.
The visitors came closest as Jonnie Jackson's first-half free-kick hit the woodwork, while Ricardo Fuller was denied by a superb David Marshall save.
Full-time sparked a pitch invasion, as Cardiff join Swansea as the second Welsh team in the Premier League.

Wayne Rooney is likely to sign a new contract to extend his Manchester United career this summer, despite suggestions from France that Paris St-Germain have concluded a deal for the striker.
But PSG are convinced they will land Rooney and the Qatari-backed club are ready to make it a £40m double deal by also taking his United team-mate Nani, the winger.
Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has put his scouts on alert to find a new left-back - raising doubts over the long-term future of Benoit Assou-Ekotto. The player is already trying to line up a move and is hoping to set up a deal in France.
Napoli striker Edinson Cavani says he is ready to leave the club this summer and that a move to England could be on the cards with Manchester City leading the chase.
