Arsenal failed in a late move to sign Lazio striker Miroslav Klose on loan on deadline day. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger saw the striker as a short-term fix to increase the Gunners' attacking options.
Manchester United discussed swapping winger Nani for Tottenham's Andros Townsend but Spurs, after initially entering discussions, rejected the deal.
Manchester City's bid for defender Eliaquim Mangala and midfielder Fernando collapsed after Porto told the Premier League leaders they would have to pay £46m to land the duo.
City will make another attempt to sign Mangala in the summer but are likely to face competition from Paris St-Germain and Manchester United.
Liverpool met the buy-out clause in the contract of Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk's Ukraine international forward Yevhen Konoplyanka members of their medical team travelled to Ukraine and Konoplyanka had agreed the terms of his move to Anfield - only for Dnipro's president, Ihor Kolomoyskyi, to refuse to sanction the player's release.
