The first of todays 2 games being played, a London Derby from Upton Park. Loads of action and shots on goal. Boa Morte took advantage of a bad ball from Kaboul and stole the ball to pass to Solano who crossed for Cole to make a brilliant finish on the 20th min. Spurs where angry as they appealed for a penalty but on the replay it showed the play off side show a good call from Mike Riley. Dawson brought it all level with a header from a free kick on the 67th min. Jenas played well to keep the ball off the line from a West ham corner and defended well. Spurs where awarded a penalty as Defoe was brought down in the area , Defoe took the penalty and a bad penalty it was . You could read the shot through and thats exactly what Green did and saved the shot no problem. A good London derby game.

Fulham 2 - Blackburn 2
A very boring game in the first half and even Andy Gray was begging for a goal to break the boredom, Benni McCarthy was injured very early in the game and was subbed, thank goodness things picked up in the second half. Fulham had a penalty taken by Murphy on the 51st min struck the ball low right throwing Freidel off to the left taking them in front. Emerton brought it level as Blackburn scored on the 57th min, Kamara took Fulham in front again scoring from 4 yds sliding the ball in on the 63rd min , Warnock tapped in the draw goal on the 79th min for Blackburn.

After a 2 week break for international games and England getting knocked out of Euro 2008 , oh well, back to what really matters, the Premier League.
Newcastle 0 - Liverpool 3
Big Sam's men just could get started today, Gerrard sunk a 30 yd shot to open the scoring at St James. Gerrard was getting booed by the crowd for his poor performance in the England game. Torres almost scored but hit the woodwork and there was a call for hand ball as Given was out of his area and the ball struck his upper arm just before half time. Second half and Kuyt wasted no time to sore no.2 in within 45th min, Babel then played a good ball through to Gerrard for a brilliant 1 -2 straight back in for Babel to make a simple but brilliant finish, then another shot just going wide shot from Babel , Viduka had a late attempt but off side. 3 goals and the Toon where in bits not 1 shot on target from Newcastle. I am really surprised at Newcastle, specially the likes of Viduka and martins who couldn't get their act together.

Well you know where to put the save money dont you. But you would have biting your nails as Wigan really held their own looking good to hold the Gunner's to a 0-0 draw. Steve Bruce had his first game to manage today for Wigan. Adabyor almost scored with in the first few mins as Walcott help set up a very good chance but wide it went. Walcott had a shot blocked and still looking for that goal. Rosicky sent a shot high over the goal . Gallas and Heskey booked for a bit of a ding dong and both picked up a yellow, Adabayor with another shot taken high and over the bar. Walcott was stretchered off with an injury. Gallas then managed to score on the 83rd min with a header from a cross from Sagna, it was Rosicky who had all the space in the world on the right and took advantage of it and scored on the 85th min. The gunners keep a very safe lead and even more safe thanks to Bolton.

Bolton 1 - Man Utd 0
This was another fixture that you would have put you're money on the Utd to win and so wrong you would have been. Kampo took a free kick into the area and Anelka trned and shot the ball in keeper stood no chance just after 11 mins. Boltons defence where solid and thats how you have to be with Utd or you'll pay the price. Davies pick up a yellow for a late tackle then being taken aside for a talk with the ref. The smart money on Chelsea would have won as it was a giant slaying a minnow. Derby cannot get started. Derby giving Chelsea so much space and they paid for it with a goal from kalou after 17 mins. Kalou could have made it 2 with a bad header from the defence but in a freak shot he hit it high over the bar at point blank range. Kenny Miller had a flick on goal high and over the keeper and went in but was called off side on the re play showed he was on side ( high time we bring in video ref) Wright Phillips took advantage of a rebounded shot to make it 2 on the 73rd min. Wow, what a game the magnificent 7. Birmingham played a very good game but the ref missed some important fouls . Petrovs low shot hit Ridgewell and went in to take Villa ahead on on 11 mins to count as an own goal. De Ridder was tripped in the area very clear but the ref didnt call it. Forssell came on and scored a brilliant header on 62nd min to take it level. Agbonlahor nodded in a cross from Young to take villa ahead on the 7th min. Very unfair reffing against Birmingham , a brilliant performance from Young and man of the match.

West Ham had the upper hand with and early attempt but Bywater blocked well. Derby gave away a free kick just outside the area Salano struck a good ball just clipping the underside of the cross bar , it Bowyer who managed to make good of some scrappy defense and control the ball with his arm (not seen by the ref and score on the 42nd min. Etherington made it 2 on 51 mins with and excellent 1 -2 . Spector picked out a shot low right , Lewis blocked but dragged the ball over the line to count as an own goal on 55 mins. Bowyer made it look easy with goal no for precision shot 59th min, Derby gave away another free kick for a Solano on target strike scoring on 69th min, Derby in trouble and had only 1 shot on target and look very weak not a Premier league club and not good enough for the championship, if they play like that they will certainly go down but just stay at the bottom. Fulham gave away a free kick with a brilliant ball delivered to Crouch he headed in just smacking the woodwork and keeping 0-0 up to half time. Niemi saved the day again with a good save and the ball being cleared Benayoun almost getting to it but could only send the ball high over the cross bar. But Benayoun then had another go on target saved by Niemi. Torres quick turn and shoot on the 81st min a low right shot beating Niemi. Fulham defenders where clumsy to give away a penalty as Geraard was brought down but the offense looked like it was out of the area , penalty given and Gerrard scored on 85th min.

Remember remember the 5th of November, well I'm sure Roy Keane doesn't want to remember this day. Sunderland suffered another defeat as they visited Man City. Both Collins and Anthony failed to find the back of the net with headers in the first half and staying at 0 - 0 at half time , but it was Ireland who broke the silence with a brilliant volley on the 67th min followed by a stupid celebration when he pulled his shorts down and stood like superman, FA are looking into this as they where very bad undercrackers. Man city move up to 3rd and still look strong in spite of their heavy defeat at Chelsea they looked like a different team, Sunderland stay mid table.

McCartney half volley gave West Ham the lead just after 20 mins, Bolton where not giving up and had chances as Guthrie's low shot hit the woodwork and a shots from El-HadJi Diouf denied. Cole could have made it 2 to West Ham just couldnt get his foot to the ball, Nolan brought it all level in deep into extra time on the 93rd min after getting onto a header from Michalik and slotted the ball away low right, Bolton very happy to take a point from this match although they are still in the drop zone.

Arsenal 2 - Man Utd 2
Tevez had an early attempt on goal but ending up going wide. Ronaldo Crossed a brilliant ball in from the the right over for Giggs who couldn't Finnish. Giggs then had a shot on goal sending it just over the bar. Tevez and Rooney working well together again and a pass from Tevez through to Rooney was blocked well by the Arsenal defence. Ronaldo managed to squeeze a pass through to Rooney just before half time and Rooney's ricochet shot went in classing as an own goal off Gallas on 45th min. Fabregas brought Arsenal level soon after the second half on 48th min Van Der Sar fumbled the initial save dropping the ball leaving it open for a pass to Fabregas and he made a good finnish. Rooney and Giggs tried some slick play but it didnt work out. Ronaldo made good of some handy work by Evra and slotted away no.2 on the 82nd min. Arsenal had 2 clear chances at this stage of the game and didn't use them but they wouldn't give up and the attacking play payed off when shot after shot was hitting Van Der Sar and it was Gallas that redeemed himself by putting the ball over the line to level it 2 - 2.

Tevez had an early attempt on goal but ending up going wide. Ronaldo Crossed a brilliant ball in from the the right over for Giggs who couldn't Finnish. Giggs then had a shot on goal sending it just over the bar. Tevez and Rooney working well together again and a pass from Tevez through to Rooney was blocked well by the Arsenal defence. Ronaldo managed to squeeze a pass through to Rooney just before half time and Rooney's ricochet shot went in classing as an own goal off Gallas on 45th min. Top game for today as these two teams need to keep the points coming in to keep strong in the top 4. Liverpool had the upper hand with attempts with Gerrard almost scoring sending Almunia to palm ball away and kept in play, whilst still busy clea5ring the ball out of the area Arsenal gave away a free kick just out side the 18 yd area Gerrard took and sent the ball screaming through the wall (recorded at 68 mph) to take them ahead after 7 mins. I wouldn't have put money on a win from Chelsea given the recent wins from City but city just couldn't get started. Petrov put Cech under pressure with a good on target shot but safely saved.Essien opened up after 16 mins. Next was the wizardry of Lampard and Drogba that took first blood with a great pass through to Drogba to finish on 31 mins. Drogba was brought down in the penalty area by Hamman was very lucky not to have been booked on the replay it showed a definite penalty. Ireland missed a good chance as City built up a good attack. Another wave of fresh doubt about Martin Jol washed over Spurs after another defeat. Poor defending from spurs allowed big Sam's men to rule the play. Faye was denied by the post with a good early attempt with a header, but it wasnt until just before half time with a goal from Martins on 45th min, Cacapa then gave Newcastle a cushion on 51st min , Keane managed to get one back for Spurs on 57th min but shame the rest of the team wasnt working as hard as him, Milner then sunk spurs on 73rd min. All the press was full of will Jol survive, well to be honest I hope he does. Looking at what he has done for the club not just the recent poor results but the long term record it shows he can get the team to perform, I wouldnt put money on them going down but I think they'll join Reading mid table (I hope).

A good derby game in the north west brought lots of entertainment, Everton had a lot of possession in the first 30 mins Hyypia scored an own goal on 38 mins to give Everton the lead as he tried to clear the ball but hit it in the back of the net. Hibbert was awarded a red card for bringing down Gerrard in the box giving Liverpool a penalty put away by Kuyt on 54 mins. Lescott had a chance but was held back the foul wasn't seen and play went on. Riise struck a cracking shot just over the bar. Kuyt was booked for a two footed fling challenge, this should have been a straight red as both feet where off the ground but he was lucky and got a yellow. Fans where stunned as Gerrard was subbed and Lucas brought on but no one more stunned than Gerrard himself. In the last minutes Liverpool had a good attack with Everton scrambling about defending, a shot from Lucas on target was stopped by Phil Neville cleared with his hand earning a red card and a penalty again Kuyt on 90 min .

Reading again on the receiving end of a beating but not as bad as their visit to Portsmouth, Reading have never won at Ewood Park and their luck wasn't to change.
Benni McCarthy opened the scoring for Blackburn after 18 mins. Santa Cruz then scored again for Blackburn on 22 mins. Tugay then struck a long shot to beat Hahnemann on 32nd min. Coppell brought on Lita for the second half who had a 20 yd strike pushed way by Friedel. Duberry had a good attempt on goal with a header hitting the underside of the cross bar to be deflected. Doyle got a header on target and scored in 80th min, but 2 mins later Sonko brought down McCarthy in the penalty area to give away a penalty McCarthy put away another 82nd min. Shorey delivered a good cross for Doyle to header in again. Not a bad performance from Reading but still looking for that away win, Blackburn looking very strong so far this season.

Saturday 6th
Man Utd 4 - Wigan 0
Wigan Managed to hold their own for the for the first half even though man Utd had most of the posesion. But Utd came out for the second half like a bullet. Tevez opened up with a goal on 54 mins 5 ,mins later followed by Ronaldo and another from Ronaldo on 76 mins , all one way traffic then wrapped up on the 82nd min by Rooney. Utd got closer to top spot but Arsenal are the biggest competition for them this season. Wigan defense fell to bits in the second half and couldn't manage to deal with a slight formation change from Utd.

Didn't see this one coming , West Ham have been very solid this season and so they should be after investing over summer, but they just couldn't cut it at Villa Park, Gardner too advantage by scoring in the 23rd minute from a deflected free kick, but a goals a goal and Villa walk away with 3 points, I think they could be contenders for a European place.

Reading had a good start with most of the chances, but couldn't finish, Hunt having one of the best opportunities with a header but going over the cross bar. Bywater was the worked of the 2 keepers, Reading should have been awarded a penalty when Murty's shot hit a stretched arm of McEveley, what can I say 23,000 people cant be wrong and right in sight of lines man and ref was very close, even I who was way up in the rafters of the south stand could see that was penalty. Readings efforts where being tried very hard by a rigid Derby formation and it seemed impossible for any space to be created. Derby made some good attempts on goal but to be honest I lost count after 4 times of how many times Derby fell into the Reading off side trap . It was Murty's assist to Doyle who put a header away to beat Bywater and Doyle's first goal of the season on 63rd min. Wigan Managed to hold their own for the for the first half even though man Utd had most of the posesion. But Utd came out for the second half like a bullet. Tevez opened up with a goal on 54 mins 5 ,mins later followed by Ronaldo and another from Ronaldo on 76 mins , all one way traffic then wrapped up on the 82nd min by Rooney. Utd got closer to top spot but Arsenal are the biggest competition for them this season. Wigan defense fell to bits in the second half and couldn't manage to deal with a slight formation change from Utd.

Reading had a good start with most of the chances, but couldn't finish, Hunt having one of the best opportunities with a header but going over the cross bar. Bywater was the worked of the 2 keepers, Reading should have been awarded a penalty when Murty's shot hit a stretched arm of McEveley, what can I say 23,000 people cant be wrong and right in sight of lines man and ref was very close, even I who was way up in the rafters of the south stand could see that was penalty. Readings efforts where being tried very hard by a rigid Derby formation and it seemed impossible for any space to be created. Derby made some good attempts on goal but to be honest I lost count after 4 times of how many times Derby fell into the Reading off side trap . It was Murty's assist to Doyle who put a header away to beat Bywater and Doyle's first goal of the season on 63rd min. Spurs celebrated 125th anniversary, Berbatov got the 1st goal in 20 mins but was soon answered back by Laursen on 22 mins , Laursen then scored again on the 33 min mark , Agbonlahor got a goal on 40 mins finishing 1 - 3 at half time, Villa then scored again as Gardner scored on 59 mins taking to 1 - 4 for Villa, Chimbonda then got 1 back for Spurs on 69 mins , then Spurs Where awarded a penalty Keane put that away nice and easy 82nd min then in added time Kaboul Scored to bring it all level, Martin Jol must be very happy and he deserves to be , the other Martin ( O'Neil) must feel robbed.

Results for 29th and 30th
What a week end we saw a record breaking score line for premier league football.
Portsmouth 7 - Reading 4
What can I say, A record breaking scoreline for the Premier league and a very very sorry and sloppy defence from Reading. It was Mwaruwari that open up for pompey after only 7 mins, 30 mmins later Mwaruwari then scored again, Hunt scored a Reading goal on 45 mins to take it 2 - 1 at half time, Kitson then brought Reading level on 48 mins after taking advantage of a mistake from David James , and then it all went wron for Reading, there was nothing being played in midfield it was an end to end game and Reading didn't even look good enough to be a championship team let alone a Premier league club, all one way traffic for the next 3 goal all going in favour of Portsmouth Hreidarsson 55 mins, Mwaruwari 70 mins (hat trick) , Kranjcar 75 mins, Long managed a 79 min goal when it deflected off him from a good effort from James Harper but alas only a consolation as they where falling to pieces, Davies then got another for Portsmouth on 79th min muntari then seal it with a penalty on 90 mins Shorey scored a fourth for reading on 90 mins , Harry must be over the moon with a stunning performance like that, my message to Reading is if you want to play in the premier league next year buck up and buy in January or its championship football again and they will get stuck there.

Drogba looked very good after injury his best attempt came after about and hour as he unleashed a powerful drive which Keller managed to push away . Terry was caught up in an aerial collision with Dempsey and fractured his cheek bone . Drogba picked up a yellow for insisting Baird had Impeded him then later picked up a second and off as he raised his foot whilst challenging Baird.
