18th and 19th fixtures

Saturday 18th

Birmingham - West Ham

This game marked the return of West Ham Skipper Matthew Upson since his exit from the club in January, he was booed on his every touch of the ball. Noble put West Ham ahead after a penalty on 70 mins . 6 booking all in a poor match. Attendance 24,961

Fulham - Middlesbrough

A lively game. McBride opened up for Fulham on 16 mins but his left knee gave way and resulting in McBride being stretchered off and being taken to hospital, then later being g diagnosed with a dislocated knee. Mido then brought Boro level at 55 mins Catermole then put the winner away on 88th min. Healy was denied an eqauliser as Schwarza failed to keep the ball from crossing the line , replays clearly show the ball crossing. There is now a fresh appeal for the new goal line technology already being trial at Reading academy to be brought in. Attendance 20,948

Newcastle - Aston Villa

Sam Allardyce had his winning run brought to and end as his side was held to a draw by a strong Aston Villa. Villa's continued to frustrate Newcastle but both side where not giving way, a good game. Attendance 51,049

Portsmouth - Bolton

Sammy lee though his luck was changing when Anelka put them ahead after 12 mins, Kanu answered for Portsmouth 4 mins later. Utake put Portsmouth ahead after 30 mins then Taylor scored after a penalty on 88th min . Attendance. 17,108

Reading - Everton

Reading put on a brilliant performance against Everton. Reading should have won a penalty as Shane Long's shot hit a 1st Everton p[layers arm but then Lescott thane made contact, ref didn't give it. Hunt put Reading ahead before half time on 44 mins. Reading where lucky to hold on to their after win when Everton made a huge attempt at the dying minutes which sent Hahnemann into a series of saves but it was lady luck that did the saving as the 1 shot hit the top left corner then down for another shot from Everton which hit the bottom left post. Attendance. 22,813

Tottenham - Derby

Words must have been said to Martin Jol this week. Tottenham put the foot to the floor with Malbranque scoring after 2 mins. He then scored again only 4 mins later. Jenus then took them up to 3 after 14 mins. Bent finished off with their 4th on 80 mins all one way traffic and well deserved to Spurs, Derby just couldnt find their feet. Attendance 35,600

Wigan - Sunderland

Roy Keane watched his side take their 1st defeat this season as Wigan really put the pressure on. hesky opened up after 19 mins. Second half saw 2 penalty with Landzaat on 62 mins then only 7 mins later it was Sibiersky on 69th min with another penalty. Attendance. 18,639.

Sunday 19th

Man City - Man Utd

A big Derby game and a lot of entertainment. Man Utd without Rooney and Ronlado where clearly a weaker side. Ferdanand through is teddy in the corner a few times. It was Giovanni's shot that put Man City in front after 31 mins. Utd just could replace the magic of rooney and Ronaldo and even in the dying minutes Tevez missed a good chance as Giggs delivered a good corner Tevez couldn't put a good touch on it. Kasper Schmeichel put another brilliant performance as his dad looked on, the lad has a lot to live up to. Attendance 44,955

Liverpool - Chelsea

Another big game saw action today. It really was a battle. It took Torres 16 mins to beat Cech and put Liverpool ahead. The game 9 booking's , more booking than goals always looks rubish. Lampard then put them all sqaure after scoring on a penalty on 62 mins. Attendance. 43,924

Blackburn - Arsenal

It was Van Persie that brought the first bit of action with a goal after 18 mins. Blackburn came back with a belting goal after 72 mins from David Dunn from 25 yards . The game had nine bookings in all and saw Nelsen being sent off after an offence in the 84th minute. Attendance. 24,917
